Kevin Pucetas continued to make a strong case for a spot in the Giants rotation, while outfielder Andres Torres kept swinging a hot bat in the Giants’ split-squad win over the Seattle Mariners, 8-4.
Pucetas retired all nine hitters he faced to keep his spring ERA at 0.00. It’s a far cry from last spring, when he had an 8.04 ERA in 15-plus innings. This spring, he’s allowed just three hits in seven innings.
Torres, who got off to a slow spring start, had another strong game, going 2 for 4 with a triple, home run, three runs, two RBI and a walk. He’s hitting .318 for the spring, just a few games after sitting around the .200 mark.
